Hellooooo, I’m Tinyboots, or Sarah!

Welcome to The Tales of Tinyboots. I’m so happy to have ya along for the journey!

If you’re new here, I’m an Irish Content Creator living in Galway. I love nothing more than experiencing new places and things to do across Ireland, and sharing them with you!

Why Tinyboots?

Well I’m 5’1 and have small feet, so yeah, makes sense now I bet?! I’m from Ireland and put this blog together about three years ago because I love gallivanting about with camera in hand and I wanted somewhere to share my photos and experiences.

Now it’s become a place where I can share my knowledge to ensure you have the best trip to Ireland imaginable!

Do ya wanna know more about me?

I read this thing about our perception of ourselves before. How we’re not who we think we are. Who I think I am, mightn’t be what you see in me. I found it really interesting and now the thoughts of telling you about me seems really weird. Nevertheless, telling you who I think I am is the only option I’ve got. I’ll start with the facts!

How I became an adventure addict:

Childhood

I love to travel and spend time outside. I spent my entire childhood outside, maybe that has something to do with it. The summers were spent running through the fields and wrecking the neighbouring Farmers bales by climbing all over them and rolling them around – he hated us! Oh, and we had our family trips through the overgrown bog looking for newts and jumping bog holes. Yep, I spent a lot of time outdoors. I also was lucky enough to go on holidays abroad every year too.

There’s me and my ma on my first trip abroad to Niagra Falls at 12 weeks old. If only I remembered seeing it!

In my teens, I was off getting into trouble on the weekends, but other than that I was inside playing computer games or binge-watching the OC. I pretty much forgot about my outdoorsy self. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I realised how much I missed doing stuff outdoors, so me and my friends started road tripping around the country whenever we got the chance.

Eoghan and sarah
This was after we hiked up some of the Storr in Scotland

Luckily I met Eoghan who loves travel and exploring just as much as me – actually no, a whole lot more! Now we try to spend as much time outside as we can. I’m so grateful to live in such a beautiful country and have been using this blog to showcase all the amazing scenery it has to offer.

A tinyyyy bit more about me, the basics:

I’m 27. I have been a qualified scientist for 5 years. I am yet to use my degree in any way though! I love to tell people I’m a scientist to win arguments haha, but I don’t think it really counts 🙁

I studied Earth and Ocean Science and Zoology – both are topics I’m hugely passionate about. I love the planet, or whatever’s left of it, and love each and every living thing on it. I won’t even squish a wasp. Who am I to stop him on his journey through life?!

I’ve also been using this blog to try and educate people on small things they can do to reduce their impact on the environment. I think we can all make changes to be better. Why not take a look?

I have severe health anxiety. It has taken over quite a bit of the last 5 years of my life, but I’m working hard to stop it from taking over the next 5. There’s a lot I wana do in my life and letting anxiety stop it from happening just isn’t an option anymore!

My favourite things include:
  1. Going on adventures
  2. Time spent with family and friends
  3. Taking photos – especially portraits
  4. Eating – mmmm food. I’m one of those eat-until-uncomfortably-full people. And never learn!
  5. My dogs. I love my dogs.

All I want to do in my spare time is jump in the car with my favourite people and drive aimlessly around, stopping wherever takes our fancy, taking pictures along the way. I dream of this becoming more of a regular occurrence. I would absolutely love to travel Europe someday in a van (so far I’ve just done Scotland), and would love to road trip the US too. Just as much of the world as I can really, but for now, so happy to see every corner of Ireland.

My deepest darkest fear

I want to see the world so badly but I have a ridiculously extreme, irrational fear of flying too. It has kept me out of the sky since I was 16. I hope I can get over this fear someday. – UPDATE: I finally did it!! In March 2019 I took my first flight in 9 years. It was an experience. So glad I’m on my way to overcoming my fear. I put together a post on some tips for those afraid of flying – if you’re afraid too, it might help!

Got a really good day for the Giants Causeway

I hope ya feel like ya know me a bit better! If you decide to subscribe to my blog, you’ll see some advice, my travels, my opinions as well as a whole lot of photos. I’d love for you to follow along!
