Location and Accessibility – Mayo Glamping
Céide Glamping is tucked away in rural North Mayo, and is a real escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The glampsite is nestled in a quiet setting along the coastline, with Downpatrick head just across the water. It makes the perfect getaway for those looking to unwind and connect with nature.
Despite the remote location, Céide Glamping is easily accessible by car, with well-maintained roads leading you to the site. It’s just a short drive from Ballycastle – literally 5 minutes outside the village.

Facilities and Amenities – Downpatrick Head Glamping
The glamping pods at Céide Glamping have everything you need for a relaxing stay. Inside your pod, you’ll find an open-plan living room and kitchen, and through a doorway, there’s a cosy double bedroom with an en suite. You might expect the space to feel a little bit cramped, but I was really surprised by how roomy it was. Especially the bathroom. The shower was much bigger than I expected, and the whole bathroom felt really spacious.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and hob, so you can easily cook your meals in the comfort of your pod. If you’re in the mood for something more elaborate, there’s a communal indoor cooking area with a cosy snug. The communal kitchen has extra amenities like BBQ facilities and even an air fryer, which is a nice touch. It’s in a lovely wooden cabin and feel so welcoming.
Since Ballycastle is a small village, I’d recommend bringing food with you to cook or heading to the local hotel down the road for a meal. There aren’t a lot of options nearby. I had originally planned on getting a takeaway, but with limited options, I ended up driving to Killala to pick up some bits to cool (it’s only about 15 minutes drive away).
Each pod also comes with its own patio and picnic bench, which is perfect for enjoying a meal outdoors – weather permitting, of course!
